Accomplishment Report of Extension Program Activities for A.Y. 2014-2015
Instruction, Research and Extension Programs are the major functions of Higher Education Institutions as envisioned by the Commission on Higher Education. Extension Programs serve as an avenue to make an institutions` presence to be felt in the community. It involves various services through which extension programs of an HEI can be extended to certain community such as extending health care services, promoting environmental management, alleviating the economic condition of the community through implementation of livelihood projects, devising literacy programs to improve the education status of the people of the community, thus promoting economic and social transformation of the people in the community.
In order to deliver the extension services of Agusan Del Sur College to the community that needs it most, the institution came up with the creation of the Research and Extension Program Committee on September 2014. The committee is composed of the faculty members of ADSCO that serve as facilitators, coordinator and service providers of the said program. On the same month and year, formulation of research title and identification of the community respondent where the research extension would be conducted was done. The committee decided that Barangay Saguma, Bayugan City would be the recipient of the said program/activities.
On October 15, 2014 a letter of intent was sent to recipient barangay prior to the consultation meeting with the Barangay Officials for their approval of the said undertaking.
On the first week of November 2014, the Research and Extension Committee presented a research proposal to the VP/Director, Mr. Inocencio J. Angeles, Jr. with the Deans and Program Heads of the different departments. The said research proposal was entitled “Socio Economic Status of Barangay Saguma: Basis for Needs Assessment in Identifying Specific Project for Extension Program.”
On the other hand, a Memorandum of Agreement between the ADSCO represented by Dr. Inocencio P. Angeles Sr., and Mr. Inocencio J. Angeles Jr. and Barangay Saguma represented by Barangay Captain Hon. Rene Zamora was formulated and notarized by Atty. Ferdinand Marcus Bañosia.
On December 11, 2014, the Research and Extension Program Coordinator forwarded a letter seeking for consent to conduct a survey to the households in the said barangay. Upon the approval of the letter, the assessment survey was conducted on December 15-19, 2014 which involved 209 households. The result of the study or the whole research paper is now ready for in-house-review presentation to the committee and to the concerned barangay.
Recently, the NSTP students of ADSCO conducted the feeding and clean-up activities in the said barangay as requested by the Research and Extension Committee. Furthermore, Dr. Inocencio P. Angeles Sr. provided toothbrush to the Day Care Pupils of the said barangay, as part of his advocacy of being a dentist
